The company McWilliams has amassed earnings amounting to €1.2m

Last year, Iconic Media Ltd, managed by Irish Times columnist and noted author David McWilliams, showed a significant rise in its accumulated profits, which went up to €1.2 million. The company’s financial report lodged with the Companies Office demonstrates an increase in profits from the previous €979,378 at the conclusion of March 2022 to €1.2 million at the finish of March 31st, 2023.

The company’s cash resources saw a substantial ascent, almost doubling from €158,421 to €376,869. The company’s unquoted investments maintained consistency at €685,661, and there was a marginal increase in the money owed to the company by debtors which went up to €239,581.

Having reported modest gains of €65,531 and €4,196 during the challenging years of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021 and 2020, Iconic Media recorded robust profits in the last two years. The company’s workforce, inclusive of directors, remained constant with four people, comprising three administrative personnel and one consultant.

Despite the lack of any requirement to furnish the company’s annual revenues due to its small company status, it is disclosed that the directors’ remuneration in 2021 and 2022 were €200,849 and €173,603 respectively. No information regarding the directors’ remuneration for the current year is mentioned in the recently filed accounts.

McWilliams, aged 57, boasts wide recognition as one of Ireland’s leading economists. Hailing from Dublin, he is credited with authoring five books and hosting a namesake podcast. Apart from his involvement in Iconic Media, McWilliams is revered as the founder of Kilkenomics, the sole economics and stand-up comedy festival globally, and is one of the founders of the popular Dalkey Book Festival.
