Dear Editor,
Referring to Geoff Scargill’s critique on the finer points of letter selection regarding the leadership transition within Fine Gael, I find myself disagreeing with his viewpoint. As a young lad in Ballyfermot, The Beano, an excellent periodical, served as my weekly indulgence. It introduced me to a host of fascinating characters such as Billy Whizz, Gnasher, Dennis the Menace, and Roger the Dodger, Lord Snooty taking the top spot as my personal favourite.
These stories not only sparked my interest in reading but also played a significant role in developing my perspective, awareness, and political dimensions. It is safe to assume that without The Beano captivating me with its unique stories and characters, it may not have been possible for me to cultivate my passion for the written word. Regardless of its longevity, there’s something truly special about The Beano that keeps pulling me back.
Yours faithfully,

A unique tribute to the late songstress Sinéad O’Connor was recently held in New York, featuring a peculiarly intense act of queer horrorcore, invoking both respect and jubilation.
