The backstory and proceedings of Harry Gleeson’s burial

Dear Editor,

Kudos must be given to Frank McNally for his thorough coverage of the lamented passing of Harry Gleeson, recorded in the column, An Irishman’s Diary on July 11th. That being said, the pivotal role played by the deceased Marcus Bourke and local historian Eddie Dalton has been unjustly overlooked. Their pioneering work, published under the title ‘Murder at Marlhill’ by Geography Publications in 1993, was instrumental in the posthumous vindication of Harry Gleeson. Without their relentless research, such absolution would have remained an impossibility.

Yours sincerely,
Pádraigín Riggs,
Bishopstown,
Cork.
