Dear readers,
One should consider rail travellers from Wexford fortunate given that a solitary amendment is being suggested on the route to Dublin (Reference: “NTA contemplating plans to terminate direct train services from Wexford to Dublin”, News, 2nd April). The newest schedule released by Irish Rail means that passengers heading to Ballina or Foxford must switch trains twice during early-morning and late-evening journeys. Transferring twice along with children and luggage on a journey stretching three hours does not have the potential to persuade families to abandon their cars.
Yours faithfully,
Kevin Smith
Cabra,
Dublin 7.
