The argument for a fresh orbital motorway in Dublin

Dear Sir,

The M50 motorway is dealing with heavy congestion issues, mainly due to it being filled with regular commuter traffic. This situation frequently causes substantial delays for traffic travelling nationally from the motorways that lead to Dublin. Not only is this an egregious misuse of resources, but it also has significant implications for fuel use, national delivery and manufacturing costs. Moreover, it hinders the effective connection among the different regions of our country.

Previously, the National Roads Authority had come up with a plan to establish an alternative route approximately 20 miles inland. This was designed to divert national traffic away from the M50 and facilitate the linking of the rapidly growing eastern regional counties. Now, in the face of population shifts and demographic growth, it seems prudent to revisit these plans and reinstate them as a crucial part of regional and national transportation strategies.

Yours faithfully,
G Clarke,
Navan,
Co Meath.
