Police from the County Louth district seek public assistance regarding a severe home invasion that took place in Ballymascanlan, Dundalk, on a recent Monday afternoon. The incident appears to have deeply distressed a 14-year-old lad. According to reports, a group of masked criminals, carrying iron bars, screwdrivers and other equipment, forcefully entered the residence.
The teenager was reputedly detained in one of the rooms by the three intruders, whilst they ransacked the property for pricey belongings. An assortment of designer purses and jewels were likely stolen. Even though the incursion, which occurred roughly between 4.15PM – 4.45PM, resulted in no physical injuries, the police confirmed.
Louth police officers are investigating connections between this gang and a spate of recent burglaries in the vicinity, located near the border of Northern Ireland. Notably, the culprits attempted to eradicate traces of their intrusion by using bleach and fled the scene in a grey-coloured Volvo S60.
The police have requested for any individuals with potentially useful details that may aid in identifying the perpetrators to approach them. Road users moving within or around the Ballymascanlan region between 4PM – 6PM on the day of the incident, who may possess any form of camera recordings, such as dashcam footage, are encouraged to share the same with the police.
