“Teenage Footballer Dies in Louth Match”

A tragic incident occurred during a youth soccer game in Termonfeckin, Co Louth where a 13-year-old girl became ill and subsequently passed away. She was playing a match for Louth School Girls League (LSGC) when she collapsed on Thursday evening, leading to her immediate hospitalisation. Unfortunately, she could not be saved and was declared dead at the hospital.

Her father, who is actively involved in local football, was present at the game and rushed to assist his daughter when she collapsed, before the ambulance reached the scene. The local community, including members of the club, expressed their deep sorrow and shock over the incident.

Described as a brilliant football player, the young girl showed immense promise in the sport. She scored all the goals for her team and was considered by her club members to have a future career in soccer. Her untimely death has left her parents and teenage brother in grievous loss.

The North East Football League (NEFL) showed their respect to the deceased by cancelling all its matches for the upcoming weekend, including the women’s matches. This decision was announced in a formal statement from the league.

The local law enforcement was notified of the incident, however, they have stated that there was no foul play involved and the incident was a heartbreaking medical emergency. The Garda in their official statement reported that the young girl fell ill on Thursday during a game in Termonfeckin, and she was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Co. Louth, where she unfortunately lost her life.
