Teen Killed in Wicklow Crash; Driver Arrested

A young woman in her teens tragically lost her life following a car crash in Co Wicklow, Ireland. The accident took place early on Sunday morning, shortly before 5am, at Slaney Park, Baltinglass. The young woman was a passenger in the vehicle and there were no other reports of severe injuries.

Following the incident, the car’s driver, a teenage boy, was taken into police custody under the suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act. His detention was carried out at a local Garda station in Wicklow, per the guidelines stated in Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

On Sunday, the road at Slaney Park was shut down with alternative routes set up for local traffic. Specialist crash investigators were at the scene of the accident to conduct a forensic examination.

Gardaí are searching for any witnesses of the accident and are appealing for any potential video evidence, including dashcam footage, from drivers who were in the Slaney Park vicinity between 4.30am and 5am.
