In Baldoyle, Co Dublin, during July of last year, a tragic hit-and-run incident took place, and now a second youth has been apprehended in relation to this case. The accident happened early on July 17th on the coastal road.
The victim, a man in his 40s named Michael ‘Mikey’ Farrelly, was hit by a vehicle that didn’t stop afterward, according to a statement released by the local police. Mr. Farrelly had enjoyed an evening with his family and was making his way home alone around 1am when he was struck and subsequently died.
An initial arrest of a young man occurred in early September in relation to this unfortunate event. A supplementary arrest has now been made of a young male, who was taken into custody under the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, Section 4, at a Dublin police station. He was let go shortly after without any charges being filed, but a report is being compiled for the Youth Diversion Office within the police force.
The teenager initially incarcerated was also discharged without charges, however, a report for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is being readied. There is still an ongoing investigation into this grievous event.
