Teen Arrested for Alleged Cork Assault

A young man has been taken into custody by the authorities investigating an alleged attack that took place at Island Wood, located in Newmarket, within the region of Co. Cork. The supposed incident occurred on the 6th of June, 2024, and officials in Mallow continue to seek any eyewitnesses.

Currently, the teenager is being held under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act from 1984, detained within a West Cork police station. Local authorities have issued an appeal to any individuals who were present in the vicinity of Island Wood, on the fringe of Newmarket, or nearby regions on the 6th of June, particularly between the hours of 4:00pm and 10:00pm. Those who possibly possess recorded footage have been encouraged to get in touch immediately.

Gardaí have stated their interest in speaking with anyone who was out for a stroll, cycling, jogging, or even visiting the walking paths in Island Wood on that evening, and who might have seen something out of the ordinary.
