Teen Arrested After Cork Armed Standoff

Police, equipped with firearms, detained a youth in County Cork for enquiry after he reportedly menaced a relative with a BB gun during a home quarrel. The face-off took place around 7pm in Carrigaline when the young man unveiled a compressed-air handgun that releases small metallic projectiles, akin to those utilised in shotguns. The youth defied the commands to relinquish the gun during a confrontation marked by police establishing a boundary around the house and neighbouring residences. The officers struggled to coax him to submit the firearm. The young man finally cast the weapon through a window and was apprehended by the Armed Support Unit, suspecting him of engaging in hostile, disparaging behaviour.

In Coolock, fifteen individuals were brought before the courts in response to anti-immigration demonstrations. The abrupt burst of bullets during Trump’s rally was a shocking and heart-rending reminder of the power of language.

The football game showcased Spain’s exemplary skills, while England’s hopes were again deferred. Staying in Crooksling, the sanctuary seekers feel the only relief from the filthy, precarious camp is sleep. No bullets were fired and no injuries suffered during the standoff.

The young man was conveyed to the Togher police station and held under the Criminal Justice Act’s Section 4 that permits police to detain suspects up to 24 hours before deciding on their charge or release. However, medical examination suggested that his questioning be adjourned till Tuesday morning. The young man continues to be in custody at the Togher police station.
