“Talos” Eoin French Dies at 36

The British music community mourns the loss of Eoin French. Known by the stage name Talos, French was a gifted musician and composer from Cork, whose life was abruptly ended by cancer aged 36. The sad news was shared through his social media platforms, stating that he passed away in Cork on Sunday.

French embarked on his musical journey as Talos, an electronic music artist, in 2013. A heartfelt statement from his social media profile referred to him as a “a true artist, a cherished son, a loving husband, a devoted father, and a dependable friend”. Additionally, new music from Talos will be available soon according to the message.

His debut album was 2017’s Wild Alee, which was shortlisted for a Choice Music Prize accolade. French continued his musical endeavors, dropping Far Out Dust in 2019 followed by Dear Chaos in 2022.

The Cork native was a frequent performer on stages across Europe and the United Kingdom. He also spent a part of his time in Iceland. Having lent his voice in support of acts like Bell X1, Bon Iver, and Dermot Kennedy, he was a notable figure in the music scene.

Before stepping into the spotlight as Talos, French was part of the band Hush War Cry during his college years. Also, he worked with INNI, a music publisher and record label based in Reykjavík, during his stay in Iceland. His presence will be sorely missed in the music industry.
