After the very wet conditions at Istanbul Park for QP2, and an oil spill during the Supersport session that caused proceedings to be delayed, the World Superbike riders were finally able to return to track for their second free practice ahead of this afternoon’s Superpole.
The sun was finally back even if there were damp patches along certain corners that kept the riders on their toes not wanting to get caught out by the tricky and still rather unknown conditions.
Once again Sylvain Guintoli lead the field stopping the clock on his final lap in 2’06″290 just 0.
141s faster than fellow countryman Jules Cluzel, who will be the only rider representing the Crescent Suzuki team as per Leon Camier is undergoing surgery on his foot.
Jonathan Rea’s replacement rider Michel Fabrizio was third fastest, but numerous other riders did only a few laps and didn’t push.
Eugene Laverty was fourth, while local wild card Yunus Ercelik had the satisfaction of being fifth ahead Leon Haslam, who did only one lap.
Marco Melandri did only two laps, while Tom Sykes completely sat out the session.
Alstare Ducati’s sole representative after Carlos Checa was been ruled out, Ayrton Badovini also sat out the session, preferring to rest his left ankle after his crash on Friday.
