“Sunny Weekend Forecast Amid Wet Year”

According to the weather predictions by Met Éireann, the nation is expected to see improved weather conditions over the weekend, accompanied by periods of sunshine. Throughout the day on Saturday, the weather is anticipated to remain dry with abundant sunshine and peak temperatures ranging between 13 and 17 degrees, with only slight winds. Despite this, coastal regions may experience slightly cooler temperatures due to sea breezes, Met Éireann confirms.

Saturday evening, with its calm winds and clear skies, will see minimum temperatures drop to between 2 and 5 degrees. Sunday’s weather prediction is similar, mostly sunny and dry with top temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees and gentle variable breezes. Overnight temperatures will go as low as 3 to 5 degrees amid calm winds.

So far this year has been especially rainy. The recorded rainfall in March was 145% of the regular amount across the country, with Dublin and Valentia in Co Kerry logging twice their monthly averages. Despite being one of the wettest March months in history, it was still less than the record-breaking wet March of 2023.

This follows on from the third rainiest year on record in Ireland last year, surpassed only by 2015 and 2009.

This prolonged rain has raised issues for Irish farmers, causing delays in crop planting. Monday will bring similar weather conditions, albeit with slightly lower maximum temperatures, between 12 to 13 degrees in the northern regions and up to 17 degrees in southern parts. Gentle variable winds will transition to softer northerly winds as the day progresses.

The weather on Tuesday is forecast to remain dry, interspersed with sunny periods, with isolated instances of drizzle and maximum temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees in light to moderate northerly breezes. Going into the middle of next week, forecasts indicate a return to less settled weather conditions, with sporadic rain showers and temperatures decreasing to 10 to 12 degrees during the afternoon.
