Summer holidays in Italy: Capoliveri on the island of Elba

The beautiful island of Elba is divided into eight municipalities among which the mysterious town of Capoliveri especially stands out; located on the coast, the place boasts a breathtaking landscape featuring, among other things, an enchanting lake called Sassi Neri or Black Stones (a name filled with magic resonance) and the awe-inspiring Mount Calamita which commands an amazing view of the Tyrrhenian sea and from which one can spot the nearby islands of Giglio and Montecristo and, on a clear day, the eye can even sweep across the vista of the blue sea to the coast of Corsica.

Capoliveri with just 3,600 inhabitants, twisting little streets and beautiful beaches can be reached by ferryboat from the town of Piombino.
