Sportbikes Ducati Supersport

The internet is aflutter with news that Ducati could reintroduce the Supersport model to its line-up.
After a rendering of a new Ducati Supersport by Luca Bar appeared, there has been some wishful thinking and even some rumour mongering as to whether Ducati would consider reviving the model – chasing after other segments in what seems to be its new business philosophy.

Luca Bar’s rendering was based on the Ducati Monster, using the same V-Twin engine, and now A&R are reporting that Ducati could actually consider including a SuperSport model in the line-up once again.
The model would fit somewhere between the Streetfighter and Superbike 1199 and would appeal to an older, steadier sports bike rider to whom the younger Streetfighter doesn’t appeal and the Superbike is just a bit too much ’super’ in the twilight years.
Not only would a new Ducati Supersport appeal to a different segment, the current market trend seems to be moving away from the top-spec superbikes once again into mid-range cylinder sport bikes for road riding.
The Supersport was a rigid-chassis bike with a sports style, but still had an easy riding feel great for road riding.

Honda itself recently reintroduced the CBR600F, taking a Hornet and gracing it with a few fairings.
The Ducati Monster-turned-Supersport would be a similar study in getting back to providing a great road sports bike without too much screaming track performance to contend with.
There’s no official news yet regarding a possible project, but one simple rendering has started to provide Ducati with a new business case after the Diavel proved that they’re happy to try out new segments.
