“Spanish Man Remanded for €260,000 Cannabis Seizure”

A Spanish national, identified as 35-year-old Siquen Buangiovanni, has been detained following a significant cannabis seizure, estimated to be worth €260,000, at Dublin Airport. Apprehended last Friday, Buangiovanni has since been held in custody with no bail application mentioned. Judge Marie Quirke at Dublin District Court is presiding over the case.

Although he is now permitted legal aid, the provision is contingent upon his submission of a financial statement to the court. Currently, Buangiovanni has yet to input a plea. For further legal proceedings, the Gardaí will be obliged to acquire instructions from the Superintendent of Public Prosecution.

Following an inspection of his luggage on the 5th of April, Buangiovanni stands charged with illegal possession and importation of cannabis, in addition to an intent to sell or supply. These contraventions go against the Misuse of Drugs Act. Buangiovanni, aided by an interpreter throughout court proceedings, will remain in custody until his next scheduled court appearance on Thursday at Cloverhill District Court.
