“Slovak PM Fico Survives Assassination Attempt”

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was discharged from a medical centre in Banska Bystrica in the heart of Slovakia and transported to his residence in Bratislava, according to reports from the Slovak press. He had been recuperating there from a failed murder attempt.

Neither the government nor the hospital has thus far responded to requests for comments.

Earlier in the day, the medical facility disclosed that Mr Fico had undergone additional health check-ups, confirming his continued health improvement and the commencement of his rehabilitation.

The premier was targeted in close-range gunfire, struck by four bullets, at a government assembly in Handlova, a central Slovak city, on May 15th when extending greetings to his followers.

In serious condition and with abdominal gunshot injuries, the 59-year-old Mr Fico was promptly transported to the Banska Bystrica hospital. Following an immediate surgery that lasted over five hours, he was subjected to second operation after two days.

The assailant, known as Juraj C, aged 71, was apprehended on the site and has been accused of attempted wilful murder, as per Reuters report.

More details will follow, stay tuned.
