A final culprit has been found guilty in the case of a killing of a seven-children father, who was assaulted at a funeral at Rath Cemetery in Tralee, Co Kerry two years before. Daniel Dooley (41), hailing from Connolly Park, An Carrigin, Tralee was among the sextet who pleaded not guilty for the murder of their kin, Tom Dooley (42). Following almost 21 hours of discussion, a jury determined him guilty with an 11 against 1 majority on a previous Thursday.
The victim was Daniel Dooley’s blood relation. In the preceding week, three other men were pronounced guilty of the same crime – Thomas Dooley Snr (43), the brother of Michael, along with his son, Thomas Dooley Jnr (21), both residents of Carrigrohane Road, Cork and an anonymous young individual.
As the case came to an end, jurors concluded that a fourth suspect, the victim’s own sibling, Patrick Dooley (36), from Killarney’s Arbutus Grove was guilty, on the Friday. Moving to Tuesday, they reached a verdict, in which they found another person involved in the crime, Michael Dooley (29) from Carrigrohane Road, Cork, guilty.
Without further ado, they also imprisoned taxi driver, Raymond Shorten for a duration of 17 years, as he was found guilty of sexually assaulting two young passengers, in what was labelled as a ‘Gross Betrayal’.
