Dear Sir/Madam, – With great pleasure, I read Brian Maye’s column in Irishman’s Diary (“Liberal Outlook – Brian Maye reflects on Sheelagh Murnaghan, a strong figure in Northern Ireland politics,” May 21st) about the groundbreaking Sheelagh Murnaghan, who left her mark in the fields of politics as well as law. It’s indeed apt that she held the honour of being the chair at the inaugural meeting of the Hist at Trinity College Dublin, when women were at last accepted as members in January 1969. – Sincerely,
