Shane Curran is set to assume the role of the upcoming football manager for Carlow

Shane Curran, previously goalkeeper for Roscommon, will be stepping into the role of Carlow’s football manager, according to a recent announcement by Carlow GAA. Once the county board gives its expected approval, Curran will be taking over from Niall Carew, who filled the position for half a decade.

This appointment marks Curran’s inaugural management position at the intercounty level, though he is no stranger to success, having previously won an All-Ireland club title with St Brigid’s in 2013. The announcement also emphasized Curran’s impressive track record over the past two decades, noting his extensive management and coaching experiences at both club and county levels, with stints in Roscommon, Offaly, and Westmeath proving victorious.

Jim Bolger, chairman of Carlow GAA, expressed joy at the appointment. He acknowledges and cherishes Curran’s zeal and dedication which he has consistently displayed as a player, coach, and is now expected to continue as the manager. He anticipates that Curran’s admirable qualities will positively influence the Carlow senior football team. He further views Curran’s persistent energy and passion as a potential catalyst in propelling Carlow’s aspirations to uncharted territories and expressed the GAA’s warm wishes for Curran and his team as they chart their course into 2025.
