In County Down, a man is undergoing medical treatment for serious injuries to his face and arm, allegedly inflicted during a probable sword attack. The suspect, a man in his 30s, has been detained on accusations of attempted murder subsequent to the event, which took place early Sunday in a residential property in Newcastle.
A representative of the Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) indicated that officers responded to a suspicion of an individual being assaulted at a residence in Ballaghbeg Park, just prior to 3.45am, by a perpetrator supposedly wielding a sword. “The victim suffered injuries to the face and a significant arm injury during the event, and there were claims that he was repeatedly struck on the head with an object,” the representative declared, notifying that the victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
“The suspect, a male in his 30s, has been apprehended under suspicion of attempted homicide, causing serious bodily harm deliberately, possessing a weapon with explicit intention to commit a serious crime, and being in public holding an article with a blade or point. At present, he is being held in police custody, aiding with investigations,” affirmed the PSNI spokesperson. – PA
