“Serious Condition After Clare Car Accident”

A male individual is believed to be in a grave state in a hospital after experiencing a car collision on the N18 in Co Clare today, in the early hours of the morning. The unfortunate event took place approximately at 4.15am within the northbound lanes of the dual-carriageway at the Cratloe’s junction 5.

Emergency crews including local Gardaí, paramedics from the National Ambulance Service, and teams from the Clare County Fire and Rescue Service stationed in Shannon and Ennis, promptly attended to the incident.

The collision took place near the overpass in close proximity to Portdrine, with the car involved coming to a halt nearly 100 metres from the actual scene. It is suggested that the driver did not sustain grave injuries, but was noticeably distressed by the event.

The victim received immediate medical care at the site, following which he was urgently transported to the University Hospital Limerick. He is currently perceived to be in a severe state.

The N18 main path from Limerick to Shannon has been temporarily shut off at junction 5. Consequently, traffic is being redirected through Portdrine and the Cratloe/Sixmilebridge lane.

A forensic examination of the location of the incident is set to be conducted this morning. Those planning to travel to Shannon Airport today have been advised to allocate additional time to accommodate potential delays on their route.
