A portion of the M1 in Northern Ireland has been shut down both ways due to a severe accident. Traffic heading towards Belfast is being rerouted at junction 6 (Saintfield Road), while that aimed for Lisburn is being redirected at junction 3 (Blacks Road) in the wake of the incident which took place shortly prior to 7am. The PSNI has stated that it’s probable the M1 section may remain closed for a considerable duration, hence they are suggesting drivers to opt for a different course.
