Seedings Confirmed for Maguire, Tailteann Draws

The draw for the Sam Maguire and Tailteann Cup is scheduled for Tuesday, following the weekend’s championship games. This will decide the placement and seedings of all teams depending on their provincial finals’ performances.

Before the weekend, six squads including Westmeath, Kildare, Louth, Offaly, Cork, and Down were uncertain about which tournament they would be in. However, after suffering defeats, Kildare, Offaly, and Down have all been confirmed to compete in the Tailteann Cup, competitive tier two. Conversely, Cork, Westmeath, and Louth have secured their spots in the final Sam Maguire teams, with Louth achieving this due to their Sunday win against Kildare.

In terms of the Sam Maguire draw, the teams that get to the provincial finals will have the top seedings. Victory or loss in the final will finally determine if they secure first or second seeding.

The draw for both events’ group stages will be carried out next Tuesday from 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Fans and participants can follow the proceedings live on gaa.ie and the GAA’s official social media accounts.

In the Sam Maguire, the 1st and 2nd seeds include Armagh, Clare, Donegal, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Louth, and Mayo. The 3rd seeds are Derry, Monaghan, Roscommon, and Tyrone, while Cavan, Cork, Meath, and Westmeath form the 4th seeds.

For the Tailteann Cup, Down, Fermanagh, Kildare, and Sligo hold the first seed position. The second seed consists of Antrim, Offaly, Laois, and Leitrim. Limerick, Longford, Wexford, and Wicklow fill the third bracket while Carlow, London, Tipperary, and Waterford form the fourth seeds.
