Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that he hopes it will be safe to begin reopening schoolsin England from March 8.

Schools to reopen later

Boris Johnson said in the House of Commons that schools will not reopen immediately after the February half-term holidays as had been previously hoped for.

He stated that the impact of school closures will take more than just this year to make up and that they will work together with parents, teachers and schools so that pupils can get back on track with their learning over the course of this parliamentary term.

Gavin Williamson, the education secretary, has said schools will be given a minimum of two weeks’ notice to plan their reopening.
