“Scheffler Detained Before US PGA Round”

Top-ranked golfer, Scottie Scheffler, was taken into police custody for allegedly attempting to bypass a gridlock triggered by a lethal incident near Valhalla. The commencement of the US PGA Championship’s second round was postponed due to an accident that led to a pedestrian’s death, after being hit by a shuttle bus, as confirmed by the Louisville Metro Police Department.

Scheffler, who was in transit to the golf course for his tournament preparation, was detained amidst the incident. ESPN’s journalist, Jeff Darlington, a witness to the whole episode, provided a live-account stating, “When traffic started to congest and intensify, Scheffler endeavored to access Valhalla Golf Club via a side median. It was then when a policeman halted him.

Despite the warning, Scheffler strived to proceed, leading the policeman to attach himself to Scheffler’s car side. Scheffler brought his vehicle to a halt, as he arrived at the entrance of Valhalla Golf Club, within a radius of approximately 10 to 20 yards, where he was first requested to halt by the policeman.

That’s when the officer directed Scheffler to exit the car and grasped his arm through the rolled down window. The officer eventually unlocked the car door, forcefully withdrew Scheffler, leaned him against the car, and instantly handcuffed him.

Prior to this, LMPD had issued a statement about the traffic accident saying, “This morning around 5:00, the LMPD attended to an alert about a vehicular collision involving a pedestrian and a bus. Our initial inquiry concluded that an adult male pedestrian, while crossing from south to north on Shelbyville Road, was hit by an eastbound shuttle bus in the obligatory central lane reserved for buses. Consequently, the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the site. The LMPD Traffic Unit is currently conducting an investigation over this incident.”
