The case of Marcin Pieciak, a 36-year-old male accused of murdering Irish citizen Sarah McNally in New York, progressed as he showed up for his hearing via an online connection at Queens County Criminal Court. Pieciak, who resides on 76th Street in Glendale, Queens, is already indicted on second-degree murder charges, along with two counts of fourth-degree criminal weapon possession.
Justice Ushir Pandit Duran, the judge overseeing the case, postponed the proceedings until the 1st of October, allotting a period for a compliance certificate to be finalised. Pieciak, who stayed quiet while appearing on a webcam from a holding facility, simply inclined his head to confirm that he comprehended the proceedings.
Pieciak is charged with the killing of Ms McNally (41) from Longford, who was allegedly in a romantic relationship with Pieciak at the time of her demise. It’s claimed that Pieciak turned up at Ms McNally’s workplace, The Céilí House Bar, located at 69-56 Grand Avenue in Maspeth, around 6.30pm on Saturday, March 30th.
Witnesses from the bar recollected Pieciak moving towards Ms McNally behind the counter, armed with two knives, and stabbing her nineteen times in the neck, back and chest area, causing serious injuries and considerable bleeding.
Pieciak then inflicted wounds on himself using the knife and tried to flee but was held back by some bar patrons until the police arrived. The injured Ms McNally was taken quickly to Elmhurst Hospital, although she was declared dead shortly after reaching there.
Gabriel J. Reale, the prosecuting lawyer for the case, informed at an earlier hearing that the entire incident was recorded on the bar’s CCTV camera. The video also shows Pieciak confronting the police officers outside the bar where he was eventually brought under control and his two knives were secured.
