Sandro Cortese takes Moto3 pole position at Assen

Moto3s thrilling qualifying session at Assen saw Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Sandro Cortese take his third pole position of the season (after Losail and Estoril).
The German rider who is trailing Maverick Vinales in the standings by a mere two points, posted the fastest qualifying lap in 1′43.
645 in one of his last flying laps and interrupted Vinales’s run of pole positions and he was 0.

249 faster than his team mate Danny Kent who took the second spot on tomorrow’s starting grid.
The surprise of this qualifying practice was Niccolò Antonelli who took third and his first ever front row start since his debut in GP racing on Gresini’s FTR Honda, while Hector Faubel took fourth ahead of Niklas Ajo who has never qualified this high with his KTM M32.
Maverick Vinales ended up in sixth and he’ll be taking off on the second row after being pushed back on the timesheets from third.
On the third row will be Alexis Masbou in 7th, Miguel Oliveira on the Suter Honda and former Rookies Cup champion Jakub Kornfeil and closing out the top ten was Luis Salom, but there are 17 riders in less than a second.
