Sachsenring wants back on 2012 MotoGP calendar

When the FIM released the 2012 MotoGP provisional calendar, a German GP event was listed for July 8th, however the popular Sachsenring venue wasn’t even mentioned, as Dorna and the event organizer ADAC, were was still in deep negotiations following Dorna’s request to increase sanctioning fees, which the ADAC couldn’t afford after reportedly taking a €600,000 loss in revenues this season.

According to German website Freie Presse, this stalement situation could change in the following weeks as ADAC could be replaced by the Sachsenring Rennstreckenmanagent Gesellschaft (SRM) after the local government of Saxony stepped in to try to keep the highly popular MotoGP event in their area, as it brings in over 230,000 visitors and beefs up the local economy.
