Rome’s museums open at night: exhibitions and events Rome until 2am

Rome’s mayor, Gianni Alemanno, has announced Rome’s open museum night, saying: “The aim is to have Rome open 24 hours; but to do this Rome needs to know how to organise itself, and find a balance among the many occasions present.
” The open museum night “La notte dei musei” was presented at the Sala Pierto da Cortona at Musei Capitolini, and will be a way of presenting a cultural alternative to Rome’s night life.

The initiative not only involves museums open at night, but also book stores and other commercial activities in central Rome.
The idea is to involve other businesses in the cultural promotion of the city.
After Rome’s white nights on May 16, the “Notte dei Musei” will open, seeing the opening of 58 museums, 19 exhibitions that will be open until 2am, 30 performances, three lectures and various guided tours.
Among the events, it will also be possible to visit (from 8pm to 2am) the Palazzo Senatorio del Campidoglio, while in the square a live music concert will take place.
All the events and a list of museums open can be found on the Beni culturali site.
