Resolving Bank of Ireland’s Digital Outage

The Bank of Ireland has reported dealing with a technical hiccup that has led to a disruption in its digital and mobile banking operations on Thursday. The bank’s representative confirmed at noon that their mobile banking service is presently offline, expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to their clients. They assured that addressing this issue is a high priority.

The bank’s representative further noted that their ATM, card and in-store payment systems are functioning normally. Over recent years, the Bank of Ireland has encountered several IT-related issues and malfunctions. The most significant of these occurred the previous August when technical difficulties disrupted their telephone and digital banking services.

During the resolution efforts for this blip at the time, customers found themselves able to transfer up to €1,000 from their accounts, even when the necessary funds were absent. As news of the system breakdown made the rounds on social media, it led to extraordinary occurrences in certain locations, as lines of people trying to access funds accumulated at ATMs, causing the police to be called in.
