Ratthapark Wilaroit was the first ever GP racer from Thailand, and the Moto2 rider after competing for almost seven years in both the 250cc and Moto2 categories has decided at the age of 25, to call it quits.
Wilaroit will be replaced in the Thai Honda PTT Gresini Racing team by another Thai rider, 23-year old Thitipong “Ting Note” Warokorn, who will debut at the Indianapolis Grand Prix later this month.
“We are confident that Thitipong is ready for a new challenge at the world level,” said AP Honda president Chiaki Sato.
“He could become the pride of Thailand.
”Warokorn won the 2010 Thailand Super Bike 1000cc SB1 Class title, and was racing in the Asian Road Racing Championship, until he was called in by Honda to replace Wilairot, who will be coaching the new Moto2 rookie.
