Progress seems likely in the ongoing wage dispute at Aer Lingus, with optimism rising on Monday evening after discussions at the Labour Court. It has been confirmed by both parties that the court has chosen to exercise its legal authority to step in and has scheduled a formal proceeding for Wednesday.
Aer Lingus’ chief of corporate affairs, Donal Moriarty, appreciated the court’s involvement on Monday, labelling it as constructive. He confirmed the airline’s presence at the proceeding on Wednesday.
On a different note, The Irish Air Line Pilots Association’s (Ialpa) chairman, Mark Tighe, argued that Aer Lingus remained unyielding with its stance, alleging that the airline sought to bring fresh factors into the negotiations. Still, he confirmed that their pilots’ union would partake in the Wednesday proceeding while sustaining their protests.
