“Private cars and traffic levy”

Dear Sir, – The performance of public transport links is greatly compromised due to traffic-clogged roads. Implementing congestion charges becomes a crucial step in lessening the number of private cars in city centres initially. Such actions can immediately ameliorate existing bus networks and pave the way for further enhancements. Contrarily, a significant number of people discussing congestion charges have overlooked this point, among these were Sinn Féin and People Before Profit. Regards,

Dear Sir, – Take into consideration, individuals undergoing cancer treatments at the cancer excellence centres located in urban regions, or needing treatment due to a weakened immune system or individuals severely ill; should such patients or their chaperones be placed under the umbrella of standard congestion charges or pollution fines? When they inevitably have to utilise private transport means to access healthcare, and burdensome public transport could be harmful to the patient, by potentially exposing them to infection from the overcrowded appendages of public transport; not to mention the impracticality of scheduling hospital visits assisted by public transport, all while trying to lug potentially necessary medical apparatus or support aids, in simultaneous with manoeuvring a wheelchair.
Does the government’s answer to every issue have to be levying sky-high taxes? Regards,
