In a heartfelt video message, Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, announced that she is receiving cancer treatment, reassuring others with the diagnosis that they’re not alone. The unexpected medical news was reportedly a big surprise for Middleton and her family, leading to some challenging times.
Kate Middleton was initially hospitalised for an abdominal operation on 16th January, where her condition was initially believed to be benign. However, subsequent tests following the successful surgery later revealed cancer, the specific type of which hasn’t been shared. The prospective Queen of England initiated a treatment regime of “prophylactic chemotherapy” towards the end of February.
Despite this, Middleton maintains an optimistic outlook towards her prognosis and is reportedly upbeat, as she perceives herself as “healthy and gaining strength daily”. King Charles, who is likewise undergoing cancer treatment, has been informed about his daughter-in-law’s health status.
Recalling her journey so far, Middleton shared from her residence in Windsor that she had undergone a major abdominal procedure in London in January, which was initially assumed to be non-cancerous. The discovery of cancer was shocking, she reported, and it has taken her and Prince William considerable time to process and navigate this event privately for the sake of their young children.
The video was shared coinciding with the commencement of the Easter school holidays for the three royal children, an effort to protect them from media coverage about their mother’s health. Kate, looking relaxed and seated on a bench in the video, expressed her need for recovery time post-surgery to start treatment. She emphasised that time was needed to sensitively explain the situation to George, Charlotte and Louis and reassure them of her improving health.
“Per my earlier declarations to them, I’m in a healthy condition and gaining fortitude daily by concentrating on elements beneficial for my recuperation, involving my mind, body, and spirit.” Such a statement could somewhat stifle the fervent conjecture and suppositions circulating on social media about her wellbeing and precise location in recent weeks. The duration of Ms Middleton’s treatment remains uncertain, but it is believed she might be eager to participate in activities, consistent with medical guidance, whenever she is capable.
