Preston Striker Osmajic Biting Charge

Milutin Osmajic, a forward for Preston, is facing charges for allegedly biting an opponent during a 0-0 draw against Blackburn in the Sky Bet Championship on the previous Sunday. The Montenegrin international is said to have bitten Blackburn’s defender, Owen Beck, who was also dismissed in the same occurrence for retaliating against Duane Holmes at Deepdale, late in the match.

A representative from the FA stated: “Following Preston North End’s EFL Championship match against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, 22nd September, Milutin Osmajic has been charged. He is accused of committing a violent act by biting an opponent around the 87th minute of the match. The striker has been given until Monday, September 30th, to respond to the charge.”

Beck, on loan to Ewood Park from Liverpool, was shown the red card for hitting Holmes subsequent to Yuki Ohashi’s foul on Osmajic. Osmajic managed to stand up and push Beck away, pressing his head into the back of the full-back’s neck. Blackburn’s manager, John Eustace, revealed in a post-match interview: “Beck has a substantial bite mark on his neck. He’s a bit subdued and shaken.”

The fractious match also saw a dismissal for Preston’s Sam Greenwood for a reckless challenge on Rovers’ Lewis Baker.
