Predictions for the Economy

Dear Sir/Madam, I thought I’d bring your attention to the humility shown by Met Éireann regarding their weather predictions. They are evidently content in providing accurate forecasts for our current period of delightful weather, without ridiculous assertions of having generated it.

Perhaps the European Central Bank could learn a thing or two from them. The notion it propagates, insisting that its hikes in interest rates lead to a decline in global energy and food costs, and therefore a reduction in inflation, is preposterous.

Yours faithfully,

Brendan Ryan
