Portugal continues to carry out its careful and continuous deconfinement plan with precise rules for everyone safety. 

Britons struggle to cancel their holidays to Portugal after it excluded from green lists. People who made it also hurrying to travel home before 4 am next Tuesday. So they can evade quarantine for ten days. Because of that, tour operators and airline started to use extra flights.

Portugal was added to the amber list just weeks after the country resumed for British tourists. Grant Shapps, transport secretary accused it of Nepal mutation which identified and made the positivity rate in the country rise.

Portugal will be excluded from the green list. It means people who came from there need to isolate on return from 4 am on Tuesday. So travellers need to self-isolate for 10-days at home.

Portugal doubted the conclusion

As holidaymakers in Portugal try to return to the UK before the quarantine rules come into force, Portugal doubted the “logic” of the conclusion.

Twitter account of Portugal’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs tweeted in English after the changes happen. It tweeted that the decision to remove Portugal from the green list country cannot be understood.

It added that Portugal continues to carry out its careful and continuous deconfinement plan with precise rules for everyone safety.

Mr Shapps pointed that it’s a tough decision to make. He added, “One is the positivity rate has almost doubled since the last report in Portugal. The other is there’s a sort of Nepal mutation which has been identified and we just don’t know the potential for that to be a vaccine-defeating mutation. We don’t want to take the danger as we come up to June 21 and the report of the fourth stage of the unfasten.”
