Piers Morgan has said he does not regret his comments about the Duchess of Sussex following her and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. The TV presenter sparked outrage when he said he didn’t believe a word Meghan said. Because of his ideas, he also decided to leave GMB.

Piers Morgan’s comments

On Monday 8 March, the journalist labelled the Duchess of Sussex as a liar, after her interview with Oprah. He said that he didn’t believe almost anything that came out of her mouth. He also thought that the damage she’s done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital is enormous and contemptible. On Wednesday 10 March, he tweeted that he had had time to reflect on his opinion, but he still didn’t believe what Meghan said. He also thanked for all the love, and hate, he has received.

Morgan’s departure from Good Morning Britain

On Tuesday 9 March, it was announced that Morgan would be leaving Good Morning Britain. It came after a heated clash with Good Morning Britain colleague, Alex Beresford, about Meghan and Harry, which prompted Morgan to storm off set. He described his departure from the programme as “amicable”. A statement released by ITV said that Morgan has decided it was the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.

Morgan joined Good Morning Britain in 2015, appearing alongside his co-host Susanna Reid.
