Peugeot Scooters is to enter the Chinese market with a space at the French stand at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, before it opens its first store in China in December.
The expansion comes after Peugeot signed a partnership agreement with Qingqi back in 2006.
The Chinese industrial and commercial partner holds a 50 percent stake in Peugeot Scooters and the joint venture is planning to open 145 sales outlets in China and nine flagship stores.
Initially five Chinese-manufactured products will be launched for the local market, that will then be followed by imports from France.
The idea behind showcasing products at the World Expo is to celebrate Peugeot’s 200th anniversary and establish a brand presence based on tradition and history.
There is no specific product news available yet, but we’ll be seeing the new models emerge towards the end of the year.
