Valentine‘s Day is a lovers’ day: a day to show love to those who are important in our lives. If there are creatures that deserve all the love in the world, they are pets at homes. They are always by our side, they share pain, joy and passion, and support us at all times, and we want them to be always well. Apparently, they also help us find a human partner.
This discovery comes from the “Falling for Fido” survey conducted for Valentine‘s Day by Penn Schoen Berland on behalf of Purina. According to the data collected by interviewing 1300 people, pets at homes help to find the ideal partner. In fact, 54% of those interviewed said they talk about their pet to break the ice with a new partner. In addition, 63% of respondents want a partner who owns a pet. Moreover, 6 out of 10 people find people with a dog more attractive.
The overwhelming majority of respondents, i.e. 88%, believe that dogs help to meet new people. 33% of men say that they even help to get a date for Valentine’s Day.
As we have seen, animals can be more than just pets. So why not celebrate Valentine’s Day with your four-legged friend? Even the smallest gesture can become a great gift for your pet.
First of all, you could make your pet a tasty lunch (but make sure you know what your pet is allergic to). Any ideas? For example, if you have a cat, you can go to the fish market and buy some good fish just for it. It will appreciate it very much. No elaborate recipes, no salt and no spices. A little fresh boiled fish will be enough to make him happy. For your dog, however, why not take the opportunity to make some homemade cookies? On the web you can find lots of recipes of dog cookies. Alternatively, you can always buy ready-made food – like their favorite kibble, or a special heart-shaped biscuit.
Another great idea is to spend more time with your pet. We are often so caught up in our daily routine that we forget how important we are for our animals. And so we give them some time to spend together. If you have a dog, take him for a longer walk than usual. If you have a kitten, just spend a little more time with him. Turn off the radio, TV and cell phones for a while and enjoy his presence. It’ll be good for both of you.
