Following a tragic car accident in Co Mayo, a man in his 40s has lost his life. The fatal incident took place near Balla at Carrowntober Oughter, Manulla on the N60, just before 11pm on Tuesday. Medical professionals at the scene confirmed his demise. As a result, local authorities have put in place temporary diversions due to the road being shut for now. Garda forensic collision investigators are scheduled to examine the scene which has been retained for this purpose.
An Garda Síochána is urging witnesses of the tragedy to step forward, particularly those with dashcam or camera footage who were in the vicinity at the time of the accident. With this unfortunate incident, the death toll on Irish roads this year has now reached 137. This follows on from an accident in Co Roscommon on Monday afternoon that caused the death of a man in his 70s.
