Irish footballer Dara O’Shea has finalised his transfer to Ipswich from Burnley, becoming the 11th new addition to the team this summer. Since earning their promotion in May, Ipswich has been proactive, signing international Irish player Sammie Szmodics, Kalvin Phillips and Jack Clarke. Recently, O’Shea became the newest member of manager Kieran McKenna’s squad, signing a five-year contract with the club after his last season at the Premier League with Burnley.
Commenting on the move, O’Shea said, “The squad achieved incredible things last season, and that made my decision to join fairly easy. This club is ambitious, and that momentum is an exciting prospect for me. A large part of my decision to join Ipswich was the manager. I am impressed by what he and the team have achieved over the seasons. At this point in my career, this move seems perfect. I dream of playing in the Premier League and competing with the world’s best players for as long as possible, and I think this club is an ideal place to realise that dream.”
Meanwhile, Manchester City has agreed to let midfielder Maximo Perrone go on loan to Serie A newcomers Como for a year. The 21-year-old, signed by City from Velez Sarsfield, had a successful stint with Las Palmas last season, helping them secure their position in La Liga. City manager Pep Guardiola approved another temporary move for the young Argentine, who will now work under Como coach Cesc Fabregas in Italy. Perrone, who has two City appearances under his belt, will join a Como line-up that includes Pepe Reina, Raphael Varane, Sergi Roberto, and Italy’s Patrick Cutrone.
