Ornellaia Imperiale sold for 4,320 euro

In an “en primeur” auction first for Italy, a bottle of Imperiale (six litres) Ornellaia 2005 has been sold for the sweet sum of 4,320 euro.
A number of collectors contended each other in Rome (at Gelardini e Romani), challenging one another to raise the price ever higher.
The lot came from an historic cellar and is the second in a series of 80 (20 of which are destined for Italy), bottled in 2007 and kept until now, awaiting commercialisation foreseen for the month of May.
