Dear Editor,
Notwithstanding the fact that the vast majority of sporting tools have been brought into the digital age, from timing mechanisms to Video Assistant Referee systems, the simplicity and reliability of one particular small item remains unquestionable – the safety pin. This modest accessory, unfazed by technological advancements, is still employed to secure our commendable Olympic athletes’ identification information to their vests in Paris, underlining the enduring appeal of Walter Hunt’s (1796-1859) American invention.
Yours faithfully,
John White,

Dear Editor,
I can’t help but wonder if I’m the only one who’s noticed that the contingent of journalists RTE has assigned to cover the games in Paris, may well outnumber the contingent of Olympians representing our nation.
Yours faithfully,
Eamon Flanagan,
