NY Times praises Rome fountains: the “nasoni” make news

The prestigious New York Times in one of its more recent articles dedicated to Rome, has praised the city for its innumerable drinking water fountains (which the Romans also call thenasoni”) Few things, added the newspaper, come free in Rome but tourists and locals alike can always count on ice cold drinking water from the city’s 2500 fountains.

So if you are in Rome and dying for a glass of cold water, there’s no need for you to go into a bar and spend a small fortune but just look for a nasone ( they are almost everywhere) and drink all the water you want – it’s free!
