New BMW R 1200 RT live test pics

Here’s a set of live test pics of the BMW R 1200 RT, the queen of touring bikes from BMW.
I was once a passenger on one a friend of mine owns and to say its like cruising around on an open-air armchair is to say the least.
The touring qualifications of this bike would seem to be undisputed – it has so far sold 170,000 units which is a fact not to go unnoticed in the motorcycling world.

The new R 1200 RT has a sportier and more modern look than the previous version, but don’t let that fool you – this is exactly the kind of luxury you’d expect from a two-wheeled BMW.
The BMW R 1200 RT is fitted with plenty of technology, including cruise-control for longer rides, suspension management system (ESA), and traction control (ASC).
Despite its bulky appearance and 250-kg weight , this BMW touring is incredibly easy to ride.
It has been designed as the perfect, smooth, easy going touring companion you’ve always wanted – it’s a shame you’re passenger partner won’t be as laid back.

The R 1200 RT has incredible stability and corners well, although you should be carefully when risking a more sports leaning bend as the bike will take it wide.
The BMW R 1200 RT is equipped with a boxer engine with DOHC technology and now has 110 hp and 120 Nm of torque.
While clearly some problems may be encountered when manoeuvering the hefty bike, these figures attest to a powerful touring machine that’s easy to ride once in second gear.
It will even adapt to some city riding and certainly urban commuting if needed.
If you like it, the R 1200 RT could be what you want for summer riding (but not in Italy’s Dolomites) although you’d best pad your wallet out because it costs about 17,150 euros.
Whether the price tag is worth it or not depends on your point of view but you can rest assured you get plenty of luxury comfort and technology on purchase.
