Unfortunately, eating a lot of sweets can make acne worse. When your diet consists of a lot of processed carbs it can cause inflammation all throughout the body, including your skin. Instead, try eating more foods that have healthy omega 3 fatty acids such as fish, flaxseed and walnuts. Omega 3 helps prevent inflammation in the body so not only will your face look better, you’ll feel better as well.
Foods high in vitamin A like carrots and sweet potatoes can also help treat acne. Vitamin A helps improve how the skin’s pores shed dead skin cells which keep pores from getting blocked. You may also consider taking an over the counter vitamin A supplements if you have trouble getting enough vitamin A from your diet alone.
Taking a zinc supplement may also help. Zinc is essential in protein synthesis and collagen production. Both of these processes help normalize your skin’s oil production. If you would rather try to get more zinc from your diet try eating more meat, sea food, oats, nuts and pumpkin seeds.
Keep these tips in mind when you’re planning your meals and you will help your skin stay acne free.
