Ulster Rugby Club has confirmed the acquisition of Aidan Morgan, a New Zealand native with Irish eligibility due to his grandfather’s Belfast roots, in preparation for the coming season. This crucial addition provides Ulster with essential resources in the outhalf position subsequent to the termination of Billy Burns’ contract, and his subsequent signing with Munster. The current roster includes recognised senior outhalf Jake Flannery supported by scrumhalf Nathan Doak and academy player James Humphreys.
Aged 23, Morgan is currently aligned with the Hurricanes in Super Rugby and has previously represented New Zealand in the U20s. Part of the Hurricanes academy in his early career, Morgan has 23 appearances in Super Rugby under his belt. He is now set to represent Ireland following a two-year contract confirmation at Ravenhill.
In the meantime, Munster Rugby Club has also made some strategic moves by reinforcing their team with Calvin Nash, Stephen Archer and Dave Kilcoyne – all of whom have extended their stay at Thomond Park. Nash, succeeding Mack Hansen as Ireland’s starting right wing during the Six Nations due to an injury, was already under contract for the upcoming season but has now extended his pact till 2026. In a similar vein, the club’s record appearance holder, Archer, confirmed a six month extension until January 2025 while Kilcoyne is set to complete a one-year agreement by the conclusion of the upcoming season.
